Personalized Creative Design with Chris Baran

All of our stylists were recently inspired by spending the day with Chris Baran, Artistic Director and Educational Consultant with REDKEN 5th AVENUE NYC.  He has won many awards including Canadian Hairdresser of the Year and a North American Hair Styling Award (NAHA). His ability to translate the latest trends into usable looks for our guests is unequaled.3769166652 b1e079fb31 m Personalized Creative Design with Chris Baran

Our stylists were able to see the latest techniques that are used to achieve modern looks on many different textures of hair. The finished looks were supported by some exciting new products from REDKEN: Satin Wear 02 and Blown Away 09. The shine and heat protection from these two products gives great control and style memory to the hair.

Color can take any hairstyle to the next level. An exciting new technique called “Kryptonite” was used to enhance the shapes that were created earlier. This versatile placement of the highlights will work with many different shapes and textures. The star-like pattern can be enhanced with several “sparks” of color fr3768366139 fef613998f m Personalized Creative Design with Chris Baranom underneath, to give it a more dramatic look.

Continuing education is just one way Robert Andrew ensures that you get the highest quality cuts and colors from our stylists!

Every month Robert Andrew supports an important local cause. In August, please join our support for the Chris Jones Foundation. You’re likely familiar with this tragic story. His parents have started this effort to help other grieving parents and to deal with the growing gang presence in our community.

Water Safety for Your Hair – Know Before you Go!

Most of us will be heading to the pool or beach this summer.  There are a few things you need to know before you go to keep your hair safe and beautiful throughout the summer.

Ever wonder why your hair feels like Barbie’s after a few days at the pool? Or why your blonde hair has a pale green cast to it? Chemicals in pool water, such as Chlorine, will lighten your color, open the cuticle, and make your hair brittle. The copper in the algaecide, is what makes it green (blonde (yellow) + copper (blue) = green).

Before you start balancing your checkbook to see if you can afford a salon fix – stop it before it starts! Protect your hair by apply a protective crème conditioner (made for swimming) throughout your hair. This will seal the cuticle and keep the chemicals from absorbing deeply into the hair. At the end of your day, use a clarifying shampoo to remove chemicals and residuals, and don’t forget to condition afterwards!

You just made an appointment to have your hair colored before you head to the sand. Maybe you should wait till you return. Salt and freshly colored hair can be a deadly combination. Salt is a mordant and can actually pull those beautiful hues right into the ocean. Your color will probably fade while you are there, so why not get a boost when you return, and head back to your real life with great color. Besides, you’ll probably never see those people again, or at least till next year!

So think ahead and ask your stylist about the best route to travel this summer. Hair is an accessory, we just happen to wear it every day! Have fun, stay safe.
